SDG 15.4.1 – Conservation of Terrestrial Ecosystems through Water Quality Management
At Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Main Campus, strict quality standards for water discharge are implemented and continuously monitored in accordance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 – Environmental Quality (Sewage) Regulations 2009.
All wastewater generated on campus undergoes a comprehensive treatment process at the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) before being released into surrounding water bodies. This treatment ensures that the effluent meets regulated quality parameters, thereby minimizing environmental impact.
Through this commitment, UniMAP safeguards the health of ecosystems, wildlife, and local communities, while promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. These efforts reflect the university’s dedication to maintaining environmental integrity and supporting the objectives of SDG 15 – Life on Land.
