16.2.4 Promoting Inclusive Governance through Diverse Representation on UniMAP’s Board of Directors

According to Section 17(1) of the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Constitution (page 17), the UniMAP Board of Directors comprises representatives from the local community, private sector, and government agencies.

This inclusive composition ensures that the University’s governance structure reflects a broad spectrum of perspectives, strengthening transparency, accountability, and participatory decision-making. The diverse membership allows UniMAP to benefit from cross-sectoral expertise, enabling more effective oversight of the University’s strategic direction, policies, and performance.

By integrating voices from different sectors of society, UniMAP reinforces its commitment to good governance, collaboration, and shared responsibility, in line with the principles of SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. This structure supports a governance environment that values inclusivity, equity, and sustainability in institutional leadership and decision-making.
