6.5.6 – Conscious Water Usage Promotion at UniMAP
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) actively promotes conscious and sustainable water usage across its campus through various educational and awareness initiatives led by the Centre for Sustainable Campus and Energy Management (COSCEM).
In collaboration with the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN), UniMAP organised the Kursus Amalan Kelestarian: Program Pemuliharaan Air ke Arah Kelestarian Alam on 14 May 2024 at the Pauh Putra Campus (page 37, Laporan Tahunan COSCEM 2024).
The programme aimed to increase awareness among UniMAP staff, students, and community representatives regarding water-efficient products and responsible water consumption practices. Participants were also exposed to demonstrations and mini exhibitions by SPAN showcasing technologies that help reduce water wastage.
Additionally, UniMAP conducted the Sustainability Webinar Series 3/2024, held in conjunction with World Water Day on 25 March 2024 (page 55).
This online session titled “Program Pemuliharaan Air ke Arah Kelestarian Alam Sekitar” educated more than 550 participants from UniMAP and partner institutions about the importance of water conservation and sustainable management as part of daily campus life.
Through these ongoing programmes and partnerships, UniMAP continues to strengthen its commitment to raising awareness and fostering behavioural change among campus and community members towards sustainable water management.
