6.2.1 Sustainable Water Monitoring and Management at UniMAP Main Campus in 2024

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Main Campus receives its water supply entirely through three bulk meters connected to Syarikat Air Perlis (SAP). The university’s total water consumption for the reporting year amounted to 946,623 m³.

All water usage across campus is monitored monthly in cubic metres (m³) and systematically reported through the UniMAP Sustainability Dashboard. This ongoing monitoring enables the university to analyze consumption trends, identify opportunities to improve water efficiency, and strengthen sustainable resource management practices.

UniMAP’s proactive approach ensures that water resources are managed responsibly and transparently, supporting the long-term sustainability of campus operations. Moving forward, plans are underway to expand monitoring efforts to include sanitation and hygiene facilities, further enhancing UniMAP’s alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.2.1: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Through these measures, UniMAP continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental stewardship, operational efficiency, and sustainable campus development.
