2.5.2 Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building for Farmers at UniMAP

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) supports local agricultural communities through practical knowledge transfer programs that enhance crop management and sustainable farming practices.

Farmer Training Programmes

• UniMAP has organized a series of training sessions with mango farmers to address common crop challenges and improve agricultural productivity.
• The programmes introduce modern fertilization techniques and crop management practices that enhance yields and ensure healthy tree growth.
• A total of 40 farmers participated in these courses, which included both theoretical learning and hands-on practical sessions conducted directly on farms.

Through these initiatives, UniMAP contributes to SDG 2.5.2, strengthening the capacity of local farmers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and supporting rural livelihoods by improving productivity and resilience in food systems.
